University of Florida’s Most Hateful

The University of Florida is one of few universities to discipline students arrested as part of pro-Palestinian protests beyond a slap on the wrist.

In April, Parker Hovis was among nine people arrested during a demonstration on the University of Florida campus. He was charged with two misdemeanors – one of resisting arrest without violence, and one trespass count, according to WUFT.

Hovis, a 26-year-old computer science major from Naples, Florida, was suspended from the university for three years. He also received a trespass order that prohibits him from entering campus until April 2027.

“The University of Florida is not a daycare, and we do not treat protesters like children – they knew the rules, they broke the rules, and they’ll face the consequences,” police spokesman Steve Orlando in a statement.
